American Osteopathic Conjoint of Addiction Medicine (AOCAM)

American Osteopathic Conjoint of Addiction Medicine (AOCAM)

The Addiction Medicine exams are being offered either at PearsonVUE testing Centers or remotely proctored through OnVUE (PearsonVUE’s remote proctoring system).

NOTE: If you choose to take the ONVUE remotely proctored exam, please note that the exam has one scheduled break. Should you leave your testing space anytime during the exam other than in the scheduled break, your exam will be revoked and you will be unable to finish.

Get certified from your home or office

Take your American Osteopathic Conjoint of Addiction Medicine (AOCAM) exam conveniently from home through OnVUE online proctoring. A live proctor will monitor you through the webcam on your workstation to provide a secure exam experience.

Watch the short video on the AOA online proctoring page to see how convenient it is to test from home or work. Be sure to run the system test before you sign in to register for an online proctored exam. Good luck!

American Osteopathic Association

Operating under the authority of the American Osteopathic Association

The AOCAM is a certifying conjoint of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and is regulated by its Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists to administer examinations. These examinations are one part of the certification process for physicians seeking AOA certification and continuous certification in addiction medicine. The function of the AOCAM is to identify those practicing physicians who are eligible for examination to become certified by the AOA in neurology and psychiatry. The examination measures the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of a neurologist or psychiatrist in order to make competent judgments in the care of patients.

Computer-Based Testing Tutorial and Practice Exam

Although this tutorial demonstrates many types of questions, the AOCAM examinations use only one-best-answer, multiple-choice questions. These may be presented as single items, or as case scenarios.

Certification Application

Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already:

  1. submitted all application materials directly to the AOCAM; and
  2. received written confirmation from the AOCAM of exam eligibility and scheduling.

First-time test takers will receive, via email from AOCAM exam scheduling instructions and candidate ID number. Upon receipt of this information, candidates may sign in or create an account to schedule their regional test site. This email notification from AOCAM will be sent to the email address provided on your exam application. If the email address you originally provided to AOCAM is no longer accurate, you must resolve the discrepancies before you schedule your exam. Appointments may be made up to one week prior to the exam date.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation email listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.

Your examination results will NOT be available at the test center. Results will be emailed to you by AOCAM.
