Operating under the authority of the American Osteopathic Association
The PAAI is a conjoint examination of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and is regulated by its Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists to administer examinations. These examinations are one part of the certification process for physicians seeking AOA certification and continuous certification in Pediatric and Adult Allergy and Immunology. The function of the PAAI is to identify those practicing physicians who are eligible for examination to become certified by the AOA in Pediatric and Adult Allergy and Immunology. The examination measures the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of a physician specializing in Pediatric and Adult Allergy and Immunology in order to make competent judgments in the care of patients.
Although this tutorial demonstrates many types of questions, the AHFTC examinations use only one-best-answer, multiple-choice questions. These may be presented as single items, or as case scenarios.
Certification Application
Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already:
- submitted all application materials directly to the PAAI; and
- received written confirmation from the PAAI of exam eligibility and scheduling.
Scheduling
First-time test takers will receive, via email from PAAI, exam scheduling instructions and candidate ID number. Upon receipt of this information, candidates may sign in or create an account to schedule their regional test site. If the email address you originally provided to PAAI is no longer accurate, you must resolve the discrepancies before you schedule your exam. Appointments may be made up to one week prior to the exam date.
After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation email listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.
Your examination results will NOT be available at the test center. Results will be available through the PAAI exam application portal, you will be notified via email by PAAI when they are posted.
