The Institute of Asset Management (The IAM)

Take your exam from home. Simply choose 'Online at my home or office' when presented with exam options. Learn more about OnVUE.

The IAM is the international professional body for whole life management of physical assets.

Achieving an IAM Qualification enables you to be the best you can be as an asset manager: you’ll gain professional recognition, increased insight and improved job prospects.

The IAM Qualifications are designed to promote good asset management concepts and practices, establish career paths and make recruitment and appointment to asset management roles more efficient and effective.

Whether you are new to asset management or have initial, specialist or management experience, our Qualifications will help you to develop as an individual and a professional, giving you formal recognition for your asset management knowledge and understanding.

The IAM’s Certificate and Diploma examination assessments are provided through Pearson VUE test centres, of which there are over 3,500 test centres worldwide.

Preparation is the key to success

The IAM Examinations Board does not prescribe how a candidate should prepare for the examination – that is a choice for the candidate to make based on their experience, learning preferences and existing knowledge of the subject.

Self-guided study If you prefer a self-guided study programme, please refer to the IAM’s recommended reading list as a starting point. We recommend approximately 150 hours of self-study for the Certificate and 200 hours for the Diploma.

IAM Endorsed Training Providers If you prefer to undertake formal training before sitting your exam, we recommend that you contact one of our IAM Endorsed Trainers. These are organisations that have provided evidence of their ability to offer approved training. The IAM has no commercial relationship with Endorsed Trainers.
