American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG)
Coordinated through Professional Testing (PTI)
The mission of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) is to serve the public and medical profession by establishing professional certification standards and promoting lifelong learning as well as excellence in medical genetics and genomics. To accomplish this mission, the ABMGG conducts initial certification examinations which are designed to assess knowledge of both your specialty and genetics and genomics as a whole.
To achieve initial certification, you must pass both the general and specialty exams administered as computer-based assessments at Pearson Professional Centers across the country.
Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have completed the ABMGG application, paid the designated fee, met all requirements, and received an authorization-to-test email. For additional information, visit the ABMGG website or contact the ABMGG certification team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All requests for testing accommodations should be made through ABMGG during the application process. If you have already been approved to test by ABMGG and would like to add accommodations to your exam authorization, please contact ABMGG at email@example.com.
Schedule, reschedule or cancel online
You must create a Pearson VUE web account (click on the Create account button above). When creating your web account, use the same First and Last names and 20-character candidate (PTI ID) number as noted in your authorization-to-test email. For issues with your Pearson VUE username or password, the quickest way to reach a customer service agent is via LET’s CHAT.
If your exam registration First or Last name does not match your photo ID, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
After successfully scheduling, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation email listing your examination date and time, the test center address, along with important policies for your review and information. Confirmation emails are sent for every schedule, reschedule and cancellation of examination appointments. If you do not receive a confirmation email, Sign In with your Pearson VUE web account and verify the status of your examination appointment, as you may not have completed all of the necessary steps.
