American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM)
Operating under the authority of the American Osteopathic Association
The Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology (AHFTC) examination is a subspecialty examination of the AOBIM and is regulated by its Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists to administer examinations. These examinations are part of the certification process for physicians seeking American Osteopathic Association (AOA) certification and continuous certification in AHFTC. The examination measures the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of an AHFTC physician in order to make competent judgments in the care of patients.
Although this tutorial demonstrates many types of questions, the AHFTC examinations use only one-best-answer, multiple-choice questions. These may be presented as single items, or as case scenarios.
Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already:
- submitted all application materials directly to the AOBIM; and
- received written confirmation from the AOBIM of exam eligibility and scheduling.
First-time test takers will receive, via e-mail from AOBIM, exam scheduling instructions and candidate ID number. Upon receipt of this information, candidates may sign in or create an account to schedule their regional test site. This e-mail notification from AOBIM will be sent to the e-mail address provided on your exam application. If the e-mail address you originally provided to AOBIM is no longer accurate, you must resolve the discrepancies before you schedule your exam. Appointments may be made up to one week prior to the exam date.
After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation e-mail listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.
Your examination results will NOT be available at the test center. Information on accessing your examination results will be e-mailed to you within 90 days of your exam date.
