American Osteopathic Association

Operating under the authority of the American Osteopathic Association

The AOBNMM is one of 18 certifying Boards of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and is regulated by its Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists to administer examinations. These examinations are one part of the certification process for physicians seeking AOA certification and continuous certification in neuromusculoskeletal medicine. The function of the AOBNMM is to identify those practicing physicians who are eligible for examination to become certified by the AOA in neuromusculoskeletal medicine. The examination measures the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of a physician practicing neuromusculoskeletal medicine in order to make competent judgments in the care of patients.

Certification Application

Before scheduling an examination appointment, you must have already:
  1. submitted all application materials directly to the AOBNMM; and
  2. received written confirmation from the AOBNMM of exam eligibility and scheduling.

First-time test takers will receive, via email from AOBNMM, exam scheduling instructions and candidate ID number. Upon receipt of this information, candidates may sign in or create an account to schedule their regional test site. This email notification from AOBNMM will be sent to the email address provided on your exam application. If the email address you originally provided to AOBNMM is no longer accurate, you must resolve the discrepancies before you schedule your exam. Appointments may be made up to one week prior to the exam date.

After you schedule your test, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation email listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.

Your examination results will NOT be available at the test center. Results will be mailed to you by AOBNMM.
