The Board of Certified Safety Professionals® (BCSP®) is pilot testing online examination by offering candidates for certain exams the opportunity to use Pearson VUE’s OnVUE online proctoring program to take their exams at their home or office for a limited time. SMS and CIT candidates can choose to schedule their exam to be taken online, while available. All details on how to do so can be found on this page.

On exam day

STEP 1. Prepare your testing space

Clean off your desk or workspace. Make sure there is no paper, books or other clutter.

STEP 2. Prepare your computer

Disconnect any additional monitors and be sure to close all other open applications. Don't forget to perform the system test, too!

STEP 3. Check-in for your exam

You can begin the check in process up to 30 minutes prior to your appointment.

Additional information

The SMS and CIT exams are being offered online via OnVUE online proctoring to pilot test the platform. Information obtained from the pilot will be used in the decision about whether to offer BCSP exams online via OnVUE in the future.

All communication with the proctor is done in English, unless you see the "Select proctor language" page during the scheduling process.
