Canadian Nurses Association Certification Examinations
The Canadian Nurses Association Certification examinations are competency-based examinations. Success on the CNA Certification examinations depends on specialty knowledge of competencies required of a Nurse with 2 years of experience in the specialty.
Examination Application & Scheduling Information
Before scheduling an appointment with Pearson VUE to take the examination at a test centre, you must have already:
- Applied to and received from Canadian Nurses Association confirmation of eligibility to take the Certification examination.
- Received an “Authorization to Test” email from Pearson VUE advising that you can proceed to schedule to take your exam at a Pearson VUE test centre. This email from Pearson VUE will provide instructions on how to schedule an appointment at a Pearson VUE test centre.
- If you are a first time registrant with Pearson VUE, you will need to create an account first.

Scheduling
Once you have received an “Authorization to Test” email from Pearson VUE, follow the “Instructions for Scheduling your Appointment” section outlined in the email. When scheduling an appointment, you will need information that is contained in the “Authorization to Test” email from Pearson VUE, including the “Candidate ID” provided in the email. It is recommended that you schedule your appointment well in advance of the “Authorized Dates” indicated in the “Authorization to Test” email.
