Connected Competence standardises base technical competence across the Engineering Construction Industries and helps you demonstrate your current competence achievements.

The exams are computer-based assessments of trade knowledge using the following formats.

By showcasing current Competence, you will be able to present the transferable engineering skills attained, which are in demand across the Engineering Construction sectors.

Standardising base competence and training requirements reduces duplication of training and assessment for yourself. Your competence achievements remain with you and those are recognised by employers keen to engage workers who are already demonstrating currency of competence before mobilisation.

Connected Competence improves efficiency and productivity too. Making sites safer, eliminating unnecessary training and creating a workforce with transferable engineering skills that can move between companies and sectors.

Starting your competency journey wherever you are.

Take your Knowledge test conveniently from the comfort of your own home or office through OnVUE.

Using your work or personal computer, a proctor (a remote person) will monitor your exam through the webcam to provide the oversight of a secure exam experience.

What will you need to get ready?

It’s so convenient to undertake the test form your home, but there are a few checks you’ll need to compete before you can do it.

  1. Prepare your testing space
Clean off your desk or workspace. Make sure there is no paper, books or other clutter.
  2. Prepare your computer
Disconnect any additional monitors and be sure to close all other open applications. Don't forget to perform a system test that will be sent to you once you have scheduled your test.
  3. Check-in for your exam
You can begin the check in process up to 30 minutes prior to your exam appointment.

Scheduling a test

Appointments need to be made that suit you and the proctors availability and are subject to availability. The exam/appointment testing calendar is available when you have created an account which you can do by clicking on the ‘create account’ button located at the top right-hand side of this page.

Exam appointments can be made in advance or on the day you wish to test, however we do recommend you schedule the test at your earliest convenience to secure a suitable time.

Please note, the exam/appointment testing time limit noted on Pearson VUE web pages reflects the total appointment time, including acceptance of our NDA (non disclosure agreement), exam time and short survey.
