Illinois Licensure Testing System (ILTS) Languages (speaking)

The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson is conducting a pilot test of oral speaking constructed-response assignments that may appear on future test forms for several redeveloped Illinois Licensure Testing System (ILTS) language tests.  

To be eligible to participate in the pilot test, you must either (1) currently be a junior, senior, or graduate student currently enrolled in an educator preparation program and preparing to seek licensure/endorsement in the field in Illinois, OR (2) be an individual who recently received a license in Illinois and has no more than 3 years’ teaching experience in the field.    Educator preparation faculty are not eligible to participate in the pilot test.

Advantages of Participating

You will have the opportunity to view and respond to questions that may appear on future test forms for the Illinois Licensure Testing System tests. Upon completion of a pilot test form, participants are offered a choice between a $50.00 Barnes & Noble eGift card or a $75.00 ILTS test voucher that may be applied towards future ILTS testing fees. Test vouchers are transferable and expire 1 year from the date of issue. Incentives are issued upon verification of the acceptable completion of each test form1. Please allow up to 6 weeks for processing.

Other advantages of pilot test participation include:

  • providing input into the test that will be taken by future educators,
  • gauging professional knowledge by taking actual test items, and
  • gaining practical testing experience.

Test Information

Each pilot test is administered during a test session of varying length (refer to the table above). Approximately 20 minutes of the session is dedicated to the presentation of a computer-based testing tutorial and a short survey.

Pilot test results will be analyzed as group data only and will be kept confidential. Score information will not be provided to participants or institutions.

After you schedule a pilot test appointment, Pearson VUE will email you a confirmation listing your test date, your testing time, the address and phone number of your test center, and directions to the test center.

If you are unable to keep a pilot test appointment, please cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled test time.

1. You will receive compensation upon verification of satisfactory participation (defined as a completed test form with at least 25% of multiple-choice items answered correctly and, for test forms with constructed-response assignments, completion of responses to all constructed-response assignments as directed). You may choose only one incentive per test session.
