Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI)

The Guild of Architectural Ironmonger (GAI) is the trade body that represents the interests of the whole architectural ironmonger industry following the BS EN standards and regulations for Architectural ironmongers, wholesalers and manufactures. Its reputation is built on three key areas: education, technical support and community. Its qualification, education and CPD programmes are widely respected in the UK and overseas.

Important:
  • GAI candidates MUST inform the Test Administrator of any issue at the time of the exam so it can be acted upon immediately.
  • Candidates should cancel their exams at least 48 hours before their appointment date. Candidates must contact GAI if they wish to cancel an exam. Only GAI can decide to approve or deny cancellations. Candidates should provide GAI with medical evidence supporting the request. Candidates should contact GAI about refund policies. GAI should approve any cancellations before candidates are allowed to book a new exam.
  • If you receive a cancellation notice from Pearson VUE, please contact GAI Head Office who will arrange a new authorisation for you to reschedule.

Certificate in Architectural Hardware (CiAH) examination

The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers under the guidance of its Examination Committee have developed the online examinations in both Stages 1 and 2 of the Certificate in Architectural Hardware.

Upon successful completion of Stage 1, marks will be carried forward to Stage 2 in order to achieve The Certificate in Architectural Hardware.

The Certificate in Architectural Hardware will give you a thorough grounding in the what, how and when of ironmongery, understanding the Standards and Regulations of the Architectural Ironmonger. Upon successful completion, learners can continue their studies completing the GAI Diploma.

CiAH Examination Scheduling - Stage 1 and 2

Before scheduling your exam appointment, your enrolment must be submitted and approved by GAI, and all fees paid in advance.

First–time exam takers must create a Pearson VUE web account. Bookings may be made up to 48 hours in advance of examination date.

After you schedule your examination, Pearson VUE will send you a confirmation listing your test date, time, the address and phone number of the test centre, and directions to the test centre.

Please ensure you have been appointed the correct examination.

Two forms of personal identification must be taken to the examination centre. (One piece must be photo identification.)

Special Needs

The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) welcomes entries from learners with disabilities or special needs and is able to provide additional help or concessions, such as extra exam time, as appropriate to individual needs.
