Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Important announcement from the NMC:

We’ll be trialling some of the new CBT questions which will help us determine the pass mark for the new tests in preparation for the new ToC going live in April 2021.

To help us set a pass mark, candidates taking the current adult nursing CBT will complete an additional 10 questions. These questions will be unscored, this means they will not count towards their CBT result. We will use the results of the questions to help set the pass mark for the new CBT which is introduced in April 2021.

We are grateful for candidates who will be completing the additional 10 questions; we appreciate that it means more questions, however we are confident that candidates will have sufficient time.

The Test of Competence (ToC)

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the professional regulator for nurses, midwives in the United Kingdom (UK) and nursing associates in England, has approved the development and administration of a two-part test of competence for nurses, midwives and nursing associates seeking registration with them. One part of the ToC is a computer based test (CBT) and can be undertaken at various Pearson VUE test and professional centres. For more information on how to register with the NMC, please visit the NMC website.
