Important Note: When contacting Pearson VUE for scheduling or test taking assistance, you MUST first mention that CPS HR is the primary test publisher. Then, please refer to your testing program.

The New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB) promotes the safety of all people that build, work, and live in New York City by regulating the lawful use of over one million buildings and construction sites across the five boroughs. With a focus on safety, service, and integrity, the Department enforces the City’s Construction Codes, Zoning Resolution, and the New York State Multiple Dwelling Law. The Department also issues licenses and registrations to individuals working with our Department and/or within the construction trades in New York City.

All examination centers are equipped to provide access in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, and every reasonable accommodation will be made in meeting a candidate’s needs. Applicants with disabilities or those who would otherwise have difficulty taking the examination must fill out the form located at https://www.cpshr.us/exam-registration/NYC-DOB/docs/NYC-DOB_ADA_Form.pdf and fax to (916) 561-7244.

Please note that all Special Examination Arrangement requests MUST be submitted with the application to be accepted.

For all general questions about the testing process, please review your trade’s Candidate Information Bulletin or contact CPS HR (855-224-6977; NYCDOB@cpshr.us).
