Online Proctoring FAQs

Q. How do I know if online proctored test delivery is right for me?
A. Start by ensuring that your computer meets our requirements by completing the required system test and exam simulation. Read about what to expect regarding testing session protocol. If you have any doubts or reservations, we recommend that you schedule your exam at a test center.
Q. Can I still take my exam via online proctored delivery if my system does not pass the system test?
A. No. You should not register for online proctored delivery if you system does not pass the system test.
Q. Do I have to prepare my work area?
A. During the check-in, the Proctor will ask to see your environment to ensure you have a clean desktop and you are not within arm’s reach of books, notepads, post-it notes, papers, pens, pencils or other writing instruments/objects. To complete the required work-area scan, the Proctor will ask you to take a step back and use your webcam to slowly scan your work area, including walls, floor space and the desktop. Additional monitors must be unplugged and computers must be turned off. Items on the wall such as wall art, posters and whiteboards will be inspected. If you are unable to complete a room scan, you will not be permitted to proceed further or to take the exam.
Q. How do I register for an online proctored test?
A. Log into your account on the Online Proctored page. After you sign in, select Proctored Exams from the “Home” page. Select the exam you wish to take from the exam list under Certification Exams or by entering the exam series code in the search bar. On the “Select Booking Method” page, select “I want to take this exam as an online proctored exam” and complete the scheduling process.
Q. Are online proctored exams secure?
A. We’re committed to protecting the integrity of our exams, regardless of how they are delivered. When you take an online proctored exam, you must first install a secure browser that enforces rigorous safeguards throughout the testing process. In addition, a Pearson VUE proctor monitors you at all times during the exam, via webcam and microphone. We also review footage of exam sessions in cases where we suspect cheating.
Q. If multiple exams are required for a certification, do I need to choose a single delivery method (for example, online proctoring) for the entire set?
A. No, you may mix and match delivery methods—the exams are the same.
Q. After my exam has launched and I am assigned a proctor, how long do I have to complete the exam?
A. You will have the same amount of time to complete the exam as you would when taking the exam at a Pearson VUE test center.
Q. Are exams delivered via online proctoring more difficult than exams delivered at test centers?
A. No. The exams are identical.
Q. Are there any differences between taking an exam via online proctoring and taking an exam at a Pearson VUE test center?
A. Please note that the proctoring software, greeter support, and proctor support are only available in English for online proctoring.
Q. If I have technical issues before, during, or after exam administration, who do I contact?
A. For registration questions, please use the Pearson VUE customer service links provided during registration. If you encounter a technical issue during exam delivery, the exam proctor helps you try to resolve the issue. If necessary, the proctor provides an Incident Report number to reference when following up with Pearson VUE Customer Support.
Q. What type of identification is required during the check-in process?
A. Please review the current ID policy. If you’re currently in the process of updating or renewing your identification, please note that legal name change forms, including ID renewal forms, cannot be accepted for online proctored delivery.
