Skills testing will resume in WA beginning this August. Additionally, Pearson VUE will be migrating the written portion of the Washington Nurse Aide exam to computer based testing (CBT) at Pearson VUE 3rd party test centers. Candidates will no longer be required to take their first attempt at written and skills together.

To make this change we will be immediately suspending all WA nurse aide scheduling and cancel all exams that were scheduled through December. Once the migration is complete, candidates will be able to schedule their skills exam, and within a few weeks, will be able to schedule their written exam. This page will be updated once candidates are able schedule their written exam.

Steps to enroll on the Washington Nurse Aides

The following are the steps in the process of enrollment onto the Washington Nurse Aides Registry. Steps that require action by you are indicated by a symbol.


Complete training program

Student must complete the state approved training program.

If you did not complete a Washington state-approved training but wish to test, Please review the Washington Nurse Aide candidate handbook or visit the Washington website.


Roster uploaded

Your training provider will upload a roster of students who have successfully completed the training program. Ask your training provider when this will be uploaded.


Email received

You will receive account activation instructions at the address you provided your training provider. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam or bulk email folder.

If your notification is not in your junk or spam folder or you have not accessed your account within the alloted time period, please review "Account Recovery" process in the Step by Step Candidate Guide (PDF)
