Global Counter-Insider Threat Professional (GCITP) Certification Program

Once you complete testing, your score report will be available online within 24 hours.

The Global Counter Insider Threat Professional (GCITP) Certification Program establishes a common standard of fundamental knowledge and skills required of all who serve and support the Counter-Insider Threat (C-InT) capability both within the government and private sector. The GCITP examination measures performance across three (3) topic areas:

  • Program Management
  • Program Operations
  • Documenting and Reporting

Eligibility Requirements

The Eligibility and Pre-Requisite requirements for the GCITP certification are as follows:

  • Candidates must have 4 years of experience either 1) supporting C-InT or within a C-InT program, OR 2) supporting any C-InT program sub-discipline (e.g., Security, Risk Management. See candidate handbook for the full list.)
  • Candidates must have completed at least twenty (20) hours of C-InT specific training
  • Submit certification examination fees

GCITP Registration Process

Candidates interested in taking the GCTIP certification exam must first register online via the candidate management system. Candidates will be required to create an account within the system and complete a series of demographic questions. After completing the demographic questions, candidates will have to answer a series of questions demonstrating how they have met both the eligibility and pre-requisite requirements in order to proceed. Once the candidate has completed the application, the GCITP Program Management Office (PMO) will review and approve the candidate’s application. After a candidate’s application has been approved, they will be required to pay the certification exam fees. See below for more information about paying the GCITP exam fees.

GCITP Exam Fees

The GCITP exam fees must be paid before a candidate is able to schedule an appointment to take the exam. The GCITP exam fees are $650. Once a candidate completes the GCITP application, they will be prompted to pay the fees. The GCITP Program Management Office partners with a third-party vendor, NelNet, to process payment. After a candidate has submitted their GCITP application within the candidate management system, they will receive directions about how to submit their payment.

The GCITP exam is offered at PearsonVUE test centers as well as via OnVUE. If candidates choose the OnVUE option they must ensure their hardware and software meet the requirements for OnVUE. If an incident occurs during the OnVUE session that relates to the candidate’s hardware or software, candidates will be required to wait 90 days before retesting and pay the exam fee.

Prepare for the GCITP Exam

Candidates are encouraged to review the tasks listed in the GCITP-Essential Body of Work (EBW) and the information provided for each of the knowledge domains covered in the GCITP-Essential Body of Knowledge (EBK). The GCITP-EBK contains a listing of the knowledge areas a practitioner within the insider threat workforce is expected to possess in order to perform the tasks identified in the GCITP-EBW.
