COMLEX-USA Level 3 FAQs

Q. Am I able to schedule into any 2023 date when scheduling opens?

A. No, scheduling is available six months in advance. If you would like to schedule your exam for later in the year, we recommend that you look for availability in a few months.

Q. How do I find a testing center near me?

A. Please visit this page and click 'Find a test center' to see where you will be able to test when you’re ready to register and schedule for your COMLEX-USA Level 3 exam.

Q. How do I register for Level 3 in 2023?

A. Log into your NBOME account and navigate to the ‘Purchase Exams’ section of your account to register for the exam beginning in 2023 at Pearson VUE. Please note, if you are already registered for a 2022 exam, you must cancel your current registration before you are able to register for a 2023 exam.

Q. If I cancel my 2022 registration, will I be charged a fee?

A. If you are not scheduled or are 30+ days from your appointment date, you will not be charged for canceling your registration. If you are within 30 days of your appointment date, you will be charged a cancelation fee as published here.

Learn more about our Candidate Assistance Program, which may help with any hardships outside of your control that require you to cancel within the 30-day window.

Q. How soon am I able to schedule my exam?

A. After registering for COMLEX-USA Level 3, you may schedule your exam 40 or more days from the start of the testing window containing your desired exam date. For example, if you want to test between May 15 and June 10, you will need to schedule your exam by April 5, 2023.

Q. I’m traveling and won’t be able to test two days at the same center, what do I do?

A. You are able to schedule Day 1 and Day 2 of your Level 3 exam at two different testing centers.

Q. Why am I getting an error message when scheduling?

A. An error message may be due to trying to schedule your exam days more than 14 days apart, or if you try to schedule Day 2 before you scheduled Day 1. Both days of the Level 3 exam must take place within a 14-day window, and Day 1 must be scheduled and taken in advance of Day 2.

Q. If I want a refund for my Level 3 exam, how can I obtain it?

A. To get a refund, you will need to have a status of "Registered but not Scheduled" in your NBOME account for both exam days. If you are scheduled for an appointment, you will need to cancel both days before your exam status will change to "Registered but not Scheduled." Once your status has changed, login to your NBOME account, click the "Request Refund" button on your "My Exams" page, and confirm that you would like to receive a refund. The transaction will be processed to your credit card, and you will see it appear in the next 3-5 business days.

Q. I cancelled one of my exam days, but left the other scheduled; how long do I have to reschedule?

A. You have up to 24 hours before your scheduled exam date to reschedule your cancelled date; if at that time the other appointment has not been rescheduled or cancelled, we will cancel it and assess a fee.

Q. How long will I have the ability to reschedule?

A. You have up to 24 hours before your scheduled exam date to reschedule or cancel your appointment. Failure to reschedule or cancel within 24 hours and failure to appear at the testing center will cause your exam to be deemed a "No Show," and a cancellation fee will be assessed.

Q. When will I see my scheduled dates reflected in my account?

A. If you are scheduling at a Pearson VUE center, your scheduled dates will immediately be reflected in your NBOME account. If you are scheduling at a Prometric center, it may take up to 24 hours for your scheduled appointment to appear in your account.

Q. What if I’m scheduled for 2022 and want to reschedule into 2023?

A. If you are scheduled for 2022, you will need to cancel your current appointment dates. This will trigger a refund to your credit card, which will appear within 3-5 business days. Once your appointment is cancelled, navigate to the "Purchase Exams" page in your NBOME account and purchase the Pearson VUE Level 3 exam for 2023. Then, you can navigate to the "My Exams" page to schedule a 2023 appointment.

Q. I’ve been previously approved to receive test accommodations for COMLEX-USA exams. What do I need to do to ensure I receive the appropriate accommodations at Pearson VUE testing centers?

A. Before registering for or scheduling an exam with Pearson VUE, please email testacc@nbome.org and advise which COMLEX-USA exam you will be seeking to schedule an appointment for with Pearson so that the approved accommodations can be added to your registration profile.
